Miss Southern Oregon 2007 crownsThe Miss America Scholorship Program

The Miss America program allows young women from the ages of 13 to 24 to compete for scholorship monies to continue their college education. The funds are forwarded to Seaside Oregon to be dispursed to the college or University that the crown winner attends. No funds are directly given to the girl.

Miss Southern Oregon

The local program, Miss Southern Oregon, usually grants from $1500 in Scholorship funds. The State program, Miss Oregon is awarded into the $10,000 dollar range, and if a girl gets to wear the Miss America crown there is usually enough scholorship money for her to get her doctorate degree.

Many of the girls that compete and win don't need student loans as a result of competing in several local programs.
